SSC Leads Academic Success Rankings for Third Straight Year
ATLANTA, Ga. - For the third time in as many years, the Sunshine State Conference leads all NCAA Division II conferences with an 85 percent academic success rate.
Released Jan. 14 at the NCAA Convention in Atlanta, the Conference Academic Success Rate data followed the progress of student-athletes who began college as freshmen between 1999 and 2002. The NCAA's method for calculating success tracks the graduation rate of students who receive athletic financial aid and students who participate in sports without receiving athletic financial aid.
The NCAA began releasing ASR data for DII leagues three years ago, and the SSC has topped the list of 22 Division II conferences each of those years. A total of 291 institutions comprise the division.
"The Sunshine State Conference is so proud of the academic and athletic success of our student-athletes," SSC Commissioner Jay Jones said. "Being at the top of the academic success rate rankings each of the years that the NCAA has tracked this data is something unique and special about our conference. It is something that we value, and I greatly appreciate the hard work that our administrators and student-athletes put forth each year so that we can remain at the top of the list."
