Tampa Swimming Set for Season Opener
Spartans set to host Rollins College on Saturday.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams are set to open their 2017-18 season at home against Sunshine State Conference opponent Rollins College.

Date/Time: Saturday, October 14 at 12 noon
Location: UT Aquatic Center | Tampa, Fla.
Last Time Out: Tampa is coming off a 2016-17 season where both appeared at the NCAA Division II Championships in Birmingham, Ala. The Spartan men placed 23rd in the nation, following a third-place showing at the SSC Championships. UT's women were 29th nationally and second at the SSC Championships.
About the Spartans: Men's head coach Jimi Kiner and women's head coach Ed Brennan both return a solid group of swimmers while welcoming the addition of a number of impactful newcomers. The men's team is led by seniorsVictor Philaire, Tommy Reminger and Stefano Vrolijk. The women seniors include Brittany Bayes, Katie Bayes, Page Fox, Emma Hutchings, Sophie Long, Courtney Markle and Chelsea Miller. Reminger was honored as a second-team all-SSC selection while the women's side included McKenzie Street (first team), B. Bayes (second team) and Long (second team).
About the Tars: The Tars men return seniors Arron Nestor and Ailin McCullough and sophomore Luiggi Reno. The women return two NCAA Championship qualifiers from last season, Grace Hansen and Taylor Wilks.

Series History: The two SSC schools last met on November 12, 2016, in Winter Park. The Spartan men turned in a 176-74 victory while the women won by a score of 166-84.
