The Tampa Rundown
Take a look at the athletic events happening this week.
ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week both men's and women's basketball went 2-0. The men defeated North Alabama 90-81 in overtime, before taking down Alabama-Huntsville in a similar fashion. UT defeated the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers with a final score of 102-96. The women hosted Spring Hill College on Friday, winning the game 69-62. They then went on to defeat the West Georgia Wolves 71-68. With both teams having two games under their belts, it's safe to say, "Basketball is back!". Men's soccer welcomed the No. 9 ranked West Alabama Tigers, who ended the Spartans postseason run yesterday with a final score of 5-1. The men's soccer team ended their season with an overall record of 9-4-3, an SSC Tournament Championship, and the program's 25th NCAA Tournament Appearance. Tampa Volleyball also finished last week with a perfect 2-0 record. The women defeated Embry-Riddle, on Tuesday, three sets to none, before slaying the Florida Tech Panthers in a similar fashion on senior night.
This Week's Events:
Men's Basketball:
Tampa is set to host the Eckerd Tritons on Wednesday, November 15. The game is slated to start at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans will then travel for a game against the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Saturday. This game will also be held at 7:30 p.m.
Women's Basketball:
The women's basketball schedule is almost identical to the men's. They will host Eckerd on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. The team will then take on Nova Southeastern, Saturday, on the road with a scheduled start time of 5:30 p.m.
Men's and Women's Swimming:
The men's and women's swim team will compete in the Panther Invitational Friday through Sunday in Melbourne, Fla.
Volleyball:
UT women's volleyball team wraps up their regular season play with three matches this week. First, on Tuesday, the team will host Eckerd College at 7:00 p.m. This marks the teams last home match, so be sure to come out to Bob Martinez to support the squad. Volleyball will then end conference play with a pair of road matches against the Barry Buccaneers and the Nova Southeastern Sharks. The first whistle on Saturday will be at 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
