Take a look at the athletic events happening this week.
ICYMI: In Case You Missed It, last week the men's basketball team went 1-1. The Spartans fell to Saint Leo in a heartbreaker 68-64, before bouncing back to defeat the Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday, 72-65. The women's basketball team went undefeated on the court, going a perfect 2-0 on the week. The women defeated the Lions 75-50 on Wednesday and then took down the Fighting Knights in a similar fashion on Saturday, with a final score of 77-59. In the SSC matchup against Lynn, sophomore Rachel Warden connected on seven 3-pointers, coming up one short of Tori Lindbeck's school record of eight in 1992. Also on Saturday, the men's and women's swim team competed in a meet held by Nova Southeastern. Both teams lost to the Sharks, 201-61 and 175-87 respectively. Finally, the women's volleyball team fell in four sets to the No. 17 ranked West Florida Argonauts in the first round of the NCAA South Regional Tournament. This loss ended the team's season, with an overall record of 18-14.
This Week's Events:
Men's Basketball:
The Spartans are set to host the Barry Buccaneers on Saturday, December 9th. The game is slated for 4:00 p.m., and will be the team's last home event before traveling to Honolulu, Hawaii for a pair of road matches against Western Washington, and Hawaii Hilo.
Women's Basketball:
The women's basketball team is set to host a pair of home games against the Valdosta State Blazers and the Barry Buccaneers. The first game will take place Wednesday, December 6th at 5:30 p.m. The second, on Saturday, December 9th at 2:00 p.m. Be sure to come out to Bob Martinez Athletics Center for all of this week's home events.
