University of Tampa Athletic Department Announces Partnership with Maverick Sports Media Group

The University of Tampa Athletic Department and Maverick Sports Media Group have agreed to a digital media partnership in hopes of a long-term relationship with the state-of-the-art media company. Maverick will be responsible for the following sports in the department: men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's golf, and tennis.
Marc Whitaker II serves as the CEO and founder of Maverick Media Group. Marc is a '22 University of Tampa graduate who studied entrepreneurship. A four-year member of our men's lacrosse team, Marc also captured the NCAA DII National Championship in 2022. As a student-athlete, Marc received academic all-conference recognition from the Sunshine State three times, was named the 2022 Alan Weimer Outstanding Entrepreneur, and was just recognized to the Tampa Bay Inno Top 25 Under 25.
Myles Ditkoff and Cody Mastropietro are also extremely familiar with the Spartans as they served as student videographers for the athletic department throughout their undergraduate years.
Maverick Sports Media is a creative agency with a focus on sports, entertainment, and culture. We offer creative, data-driven content marketing for athletes, brands, universities, and professional organizations that are looking to increase fan engagement and stimulate business growth by enhancing the fan experience. We will also be launching our inaugural class of Maverick University this fall as we look to mentor student creatives and provide knowledge on how to create digital media in house, at scale, and educate and train institutions on the revenue opportunities of the present digital media infrastructure.
Maverick was established in 2020 with the goal of offering leading digital marketing services that connect brands with their customers through attention-grabbing content and innovative digital marketing strategies. Since its inception, Maverick has continued to develop and leave their imprint in the sports world as social content has remained the most effective means of interacting with fans nationwide.
As they have been doing for the past several years, Maverick Sports Media will continue to engage with sports organizations all over the nation as they look to leverage their cinematic storytelling to work with the top brands in sports. Maverick CEO States "We understand that engagement is the most business-critical challenge facing the sports, media, and entertainment industries in the attention economy. Our goal is to grow the University of Tampa brand both regionally and nationally through original content that showcases the atmosphere of games here on campus and the personality of players within this organization."
The benefits are already evident—Maverick earned over 1M impressions and nearly 500,000 views combined when working with the University of Tampa Men's Lacrosse team during their historic championship run.
