Sports Performance
Mission
The University of Tampa’s Athletic Performance program is committed to creating a unique training environment that is based on sound, scientific principles with the goal of reducing the risk of injury, increasing overall athleticism, and promoting the team concept.
Philosophy
The primary goal of the UT Athletic Performance program is to implement a scientifically based, multi-faceted approach that emphasizes biomechanically correct, multi-planar, ground-based movements to achieve physical durability, improved speed, and agility, increased muscular strength and rate of force development. Secondly, the program strives to improve the ability of each athlete to optimally perform in his/her sport by maximizing each athlete’s genetic physical potential. This is achieved through an educational, movement-specific, and commitment-based environment that motivates and challenges athletes both mentally and physically.
