Alger oversees all aspects of student-athlete academics and life skills and is the liaison to the department’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).  She is a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A), the national organization for athletics departments' academic services.  On-campus she serves as the athletics department liaison for both academic and student support-based services.

As SWA, Alger represents UT alongside the Athletic Director within the Sunshine State Conference.  She serves as UT’s Athletics Diversity and Inclusion designee and as the department’s Deputy Title IX Coordinator.  She is the sport administrator for softball and the men’s and women’s swim teams and serves as chair of the NCAA Division II Championship Committee for Swimming and Diving.

Prior to arriving at UT, Alger spent 13 years at the University of Central Florida (2004-17), the last 7 as Assistant Director of Academic Services for Student-Athletes.  In this role, she served as the academic advisor for the men's basketball and baseball teams.  In addition, she provided training and professional development for staff, supervising both tutorial and orientation programs, and was also in charge of assessing and presenting annual research for the department’s Institutional Effectiveness Plan (IEP).  Additionally, while at UCF, she worked as an adjunct professor for UCF’s College of Education.

Alger is a graduate of St. John's University (N.Y.), where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and was a student-athlete on the swim team, team captain and SAAC representative.    Following her academic career at St. John's, Alger attended the University of Central Florida where she received her MBA and Master in Sport Business Management degrees.
