Bio

Ed Brennan has been the head men’s and women’s swimming coach since 1980, has consistently led his men’s and women’s teams to NCAA National Top 20 finishes. He has produced 88 individuals who have earned over 131 All-America awards, more than twice the next highest Spartan team. With Brennan at the helm, Spartan swimmers have claimed 26 individual NCAA II National Championships. In 1986, he was named the women’s National Coach of the Year, when his team entered the NCAAs ranked 10th and placed second overall. Following that year, major campus wide budget cuts led to the program dropping out of the national top 20 picture, but in 1998, after not having a ranked team for 12 years, Brennan had the Spartans back at number-five as the Spartan men have been nationally ranked since that date. In 2003, the Spartans won the New South Conference championship for the first time and Brennan was named New South Coach of the Year. He is one of a few DII programs in any sport who have been placed on the schedules of such national powers as Ohio State, Notre Dame, Clemson and Auburn.
