Beach Volleyball Opens Season Against Sixth Ranked Cal Poly
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Tampa beach volleyball team opened up its 2021 season at the Florida State University Seminole Beach Bash. Tampa squared off with the sixth-ranked Cal Poly Mustangs.
The Mustangs would win all the matches on the day, winning five of the six matches in two sets. In the third spot, Katie McKiel and Valerie Rosequist would play in a three set match, as they would take the first set by a final of 21-13. Cal Poly would then bounce back, taking a close second set by a final of 22-20 to set up a deciding third frame. Cal Poly was able to complete the comeback in the third position, as they would finish out the day with a 15-12 victory.
The Spartans will return to action tomorrow as they have three matches against three ranked opponents. They will play their first game at 8:00 AM against eighth-ranked Layola Marymount. Following that they will face 18th ranked Georgia State at 1:15 PM and then finish the day out against third ranked Florida State at 4:45 PM.
