HOW IT HAPPENED:
v.s. Florida Southern: Tampa began the day squaring off against familiar foe Florida Southern. The Spartans proved dominant in the 1's-3's allowing an average of just eight points over six sets. Sophomore Sara Szalay and senior Katie McKiel continued their play together in the 4's and were similarly dominant over the Mocs taking their matchup in straight sets. Tampa would come out on top by a score of 4-1 after Southern took the 5's.
v.s. Jacksonville University: The Spartans took on Jacksonville after a quick turnaround and continued their dominance. The 1's-4's were dominant again defeating the dolphins in straight sets, and Sophomore Keely Hamilton made her season debut in the 5's pairing with Valerie Rosequist. The new pairing won in straight sets, and Tampa completed the sweep of the dolphins, getting ready for a big weekend ahead in Baton Rouge.
