Joe Urso Receives Third Straight SSC Coach of the Year Award

ORLANDO, Fla. - After being second in the nation in saves through the regular season, University of Tampa baseball player Anthony Perez has been tabbed a first-team all-Sunshine State Conference selection. Head coach Joe Urso also took his third straight SSC Coach of the Year honor.

Joining Perez on the all-SSC team from UT are second-team choices Jesus Barroso, Josh Bowman, Nolan Brannon and Kevin Ferguson.

Perez earns his first all-SSC honor as the sophomore from Miami is currently 3-1 with a team-leading 1.45 ERA. He has also registered 15 saves as he is closing in on the school record of 19.

Urso receives the league's highest coaching honor for the fifth time in his career, which is a record for Spartan baseball coaches.
