UT Signee Jacob Schrader Named to NEBCL Select Team
LYNN, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Baseball League (NEBCL) commissioner's office announced its Team NECBL selections, with University of Tampa signee Jacob Schrader among the choices. Schrader is a junior first baseman who signed a National Letter of Intent with UT for the 2012 season.
Schrader was among three North Shore Navigators named to the all-star team. The team will take on Team USA in an exhibition game on Monday at Fenway Park at 12 p.m.
In addition to Schrader, the Navigators' selections included outfielder Eric Jagielo (Notre Dame) and pitcher Dan Slania (Notre Dame). Schrader will enroll at UT in the fall as a junior, after playing two years at St. John's River Community College.
Schrader belted 30 home runs and 100 RBI in two seasons at St. John's River Community College. He was named the NECBL Player of the Week last week for his play with the Navigators, and is currently hitting .308 with a league-leading four home runs and eight RBI.
Team USA is the official collegiate national team, which is made up primarily of non-draft eligible players that represent some of the top talent across the country. Past players selected to the very same team include Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira, Ryan Howard, and David Price.
The Navigators will also play host to Team USA at Fraser Field on Sunday 26 at 6:15 p.m. To purchase tickets, call the team box office at (781) 595-9400.
