TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team battled the Falcons from Bentley University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Darren Miller hit the first home run of the season for the Spartans during the second inning, to open the scoring for the game.
- Bentley's Figueira tied the score in the top of the fourth (1-1) with a wild pitch from Jordan Leasure.
- In the fifthh inning the Spartans bats were alive as they brought in two runs. Crile hit a triple to the right-center wall and was brought in by Richie Rivera on an RBI single. R.Rivera stole second and advanced to third on a fielder's choice. Kevin Santa beat out the throw to first to earn a single and an RBI that brought in R. Rivera.
- Santa was up to bat with bases loaded and brought in three runs on a deep fly to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh. Santa advanced home on a sacrifice fly by Laz Rivera, bringing the score to 7-1.
- Nick DeTringo opens the bottom of the eigth inning with a single to left field. R.Rivera doubles to bring in DeTringo.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Leasure pitched five innings with two hits and eight strikeouts while allowing one run and earning the win.
- Widdows earned the save with four innings pitched, striking out five with one hit, allowing no runs.
- Miller hit his first home run as a Spartan.
- Santa went 3-4 with a single, double and triple.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- This is the thirteenth straight win for the Spartans against the Falcons.
