Spartans Welcome Tritons in Battle of the Bay Series

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa baseball team will host the Eckerd College Tritons for a weekend series starting Friday at 6 pm.
The Matchup: No. 5 University of Tampa vs. Eckerd College
Date/Time: Friday May 5th at 6 p.m., Saturday May 6th at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | Tampa, Fla.
About the Spartans: After sweeping the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, University of Tampa is 32-11 overall and 15-3 in conference for the season. The Spartans are led in batting average by Kevin Santa with .411 after going 6-12 with six runs and three RBI in the series. Darren Miller also tops the batting average chart with .396 after a 7-14 weekend with six RBI and three doubles against the Sailfish. The pitching staff is led by Colton Widdows who has a 1.78 ERA and has made an appearance for 35.1 innings. David Lebron joins him with a 2.99 ERA, has pitched for 72.1 innings, and has recorded 75 strikeouts.
About the Tritons: The Tritons are coming off of a series loss (2-1) to Saint Leo as they travel to Tampa to take on the Spartans. They are 18-26 overall and 7-11 in the SSC. They are led by Nick Conti with a .379 batting average. The pitching staff for the Sailfish is led by Dillon McCollough who has a 3.01 ERA, has pitched 74.2 innings, and recorded 78 strikeouts.
Series History: Tampa owns the all-time series over the Tritons by a 68-24 mark.
Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
