TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team dropped two games with the Golden Rams, losing the series 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME 2:

  • The Golden Rams were the first to put a run up on the board in the first inning. They picked up two more runs in the bottom of the third inning giving them a 3-0 lead over the Spartans.
  • The Spartans picked up a run in the top of the fourth when Danny Maynard got on base after getting hit by the pitch and advancing to second base on a passed ball. Cole Perry then came up to bat and singled to center field, scoring Maynard. 
  • The Golden Rams responded in the bottom of the fourth with a six run inning that would make the score 9-1. 
  • The Golden Rams continued their offensive run, scoring one run in the bottom of the sixth, seventh, and eigth innings. 
  • The Spartans would pick up two runs in the top of the ninth after Darren Miller hit a two RBI homer to center field. The Spartans were unable to close in on the Golden Rams' lead, falling 12-4. 

HOW IT HAPPENED IN GAME 3:

  • The Golden Rams jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second inning when they put two runs up on the board.
  • Albany State would pick up another run in the bottom of the fifth after recording a home run to right field. 
  • The Spartans were unable to answer back and were defeated 3-0.

 

INSIDE THE STATS OF GAME 2:

  • Miller went 2-4 with two RBI and one homerun

  • Smith and Miller each recorded one hit
