TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa baseball team win the first game of the three game series against Palm Beach Atlantic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Spartans were the first team to put a run up on the board in the bottom of the first. 
  • Danny Sirven RBI allowed Drew Ehrhard to score. Sirven and Darren Miller scored off a RBI double from Connor Crile. Crile scored off a double from Stephen Smith. A triple from Richie Rivera allowed Smith to score. Tampa leads 5-0 after the bottom of the first.
  • Bottom of the second Ehrhard homered. 
  • The Sailfish battled back with two runs in the top of the third.
  • Top of the fourth PBA scored two more runs. Tampa leads 6-4.
  • The Spartans scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Rivera scored off a RBI from Ehrhard. Miller walked, RBI; Harrison Bragg advanced to second; Ehrhard advanced to third; Nick DeTringo scored.
  • Top of the sixth Mark Moclair relieved pitcher David Lebron. 
  • The Sailfish battled back with two runs. Tampa leads 8-6.
  • Tampa scored a run in the bottom of the eighth. Rivera and Smith scored off a single from Brandon Gali.
  • Top of the ninth PBA scored two more.
  • The Spartans went on to win 10-8. 

INSIDE THE STATS: 

  • Lebron had his seventh win of the season. Moclair had his sixth save of the season. 
  • Pitchers tallied 14 strikeouts. Lebron led the Spartans in strikeouts with nine.
  • Ehrhard had his third homerun of the season. 
  • Miller, Ehrhard, and Rivera had four hits each.
  • Ehrhard, Crile, and Gali all had two RBIs.
  • Ehrhard also lead the Spartans in runs with two.
