Three-Game Sweep Puts Spartans Atop SSC Standings

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.. - The No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans completed the sweep of the No. 20 Barry Buccaneers after a game one offensive explosion and a dominant pitching performance in game two.

Game Two Final: No. 1 Tampa Spartans 4, No. 20 Barry Buccaneers 1

Records: Tampa (23-6, 9-3 SSC), Barry (19-8, 9-6 SSC)

All-time Series: Tampa is 81-25 all-time against Barry. The Spartans are 10-0 in their last 10 games against the Buccaneers.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE:

• In the top of the first, Danny Blair reached on a walk followed by a single by Alec Aleywine. Danny Sirven drove Blair in on a double to right center. Aleywine would score on a sac fly by Cole Perry | 2-0 Tampa
• Perry got on with a fielder's choice and ended up scoring after an RBI single by Nick Derr in the third. | 3-0 Tampa
• Nick Detringo hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth. | 4-0 Tampa
• Barry answered in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-1 Tampa
• Aleywine reached on a walk and later scores on two errors by Barry. Perry reached on an error, moved to third by a Derr single, and scored on a Sam Freitas single. Detringo brought in Derr with a sac fly. Freitas scored on an error off Drew Ehrhard's bat. | 8-1 Tampa
• The Bucs score one in the bottom of the fifth. | 8-2 Tampa
• Barry get two runs on two hits and one error in the bottom of the seventh | 8-4 Tampa
• Drew Ehrhard crushed a solo home run in the top of the eight. | 9-4 Tampa
• Derr reached on a single and later scored on an RBI double by Freitas. Blair drove in Detringo and Ehrhard | 12-4 Tampa

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO:

• Yorvis Torrealba led off the game with a single followed by a walk from Alec Aleywine. Both end up scoring after an RBI single by Cole Perry. | 2-0 Tampa
• Aleywine scored in the top of third on an RBI triple by Perry. | 3-0 Tampa
• Danny Sirven scored in the top of the fifth after Drew Ehrhard walked with bases loaded. | 4-0 Tampa
• The Bucs hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eight. | 4-1 Tampa
• Derr hit a three-run Home Run in the top of the sixth, giving Tampa the lead. | 5-2 Tampa

INSIDE THE STATS | GAME ONE:

• Detringo goes 1-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, and a home run.
• Derr finishes 3-5 with two runs scored
• Ehrhard goes 3-5 with a home run and two RBI.

• Cole Perry finished 2-4 with three RBIs
• Yorvis Torrealba went 2-5 with one run scored.
• Tanner Foster chucked six scoreless innings only allowing four hits with four strikeouts.
