No. 3 Spartans have their Last Series of Nine-Game Home Stand

TAMPA, Fla. – The Spartans are set for their last series of the nine-game home stand before hitting the road.

The Matchup: No. 3 University of Tampa Spartans vs. Maryville University Saints

Records: Tampa (4-2), Maryville (Mo.) (0-0)

Dates/Times: Friday at 6 p.m.; Saturday at 3 p.m.; Sunday 12 p.m.

Location: University of Tampa Baseball Field | 601 North Blvd. | Tampa, Fla.

About the Spartans: Tampa is coming off last weekend dropping two of three against No. 23 Quincy University Hawks. Anthony Nunez leads the squad with a .435 batting average in 23 plate appearances. Jordan Lala has four stolen bags in six games while hitting .333, seven RBI, six runs, and five walks. The Spartans' pitching staff has a 3.47 ERA and 66 K's thus far.

About the Saints: Maryville was set to start their season last weekend against Georgia Southwestern State University, but the three-game series was canceled. In 2022, the Saints finished 32-20 with a 20-8 Great Lakes Valley Conference record. They were bounced in the GLVC tournament last May. In January, the Saints were picked to finish fourth in the GLVC preseason coaches' poll.

Series History: This is the first time in program history these teams will meet.
