Mark Johnson is in his 22nd season as the junior varsity head coach after spending time as the Spartans’ pitching coach.

During the 2020 season the JV team went 7-7 in a shortened season due to COVID-19.

In 2019, Johnson guided his team to a 21-13 record, establishing a new school record for wins by the JV program.

Helping with the varsity program, Johnson has been part of five national championships, coming in 2006, 2007, 2013, 2015 and 2019.

Mark graduated from Tampa in the spring of 2000 with a degree in sports management. Mark also played for four years at Tampa and worked in the sports information office. Before Tampa, Mark was a four-year letterman at Seminole High School where he played outfield and pitched.
