Spartans Mount(ie) a Comeback Victory
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa (3-7 ) men's basketball team pulled away its third win of the season as it defeated Brock University (6-3) 72-56 in the Tampa Classic matchup on Thursday at the Bob Martinez Athletic Center.
The Spartans battled the entire game as Brock took a 33-29 lead at the half. The Badgers did not hold the Spartans for long as the Spartans gained control of the second half for the win, 72-56.
Both Ashton Graham and Stefon Barfield were the leading scorers for the Spartans with eight points to close the first half. Brock's Didi Mukendi scored eight to lead the Badgers.
Tampa defended the paint to hold Brock to 23 points and continued to capitalize off turnovers for 16 of its 43 points in the second half. Brock was hindered by Tampa's performance from the bench, 31-10.
Tampa shot over 85 percent from the line in the second half, over 30 percent improvement from the first period.
Tampa will play again Friday when it faces Winston Salem State in Tampa, Fla., at 2:30 p.m. The game will be played at the Bob Martinez Athletic Center. Live stats and a webcast will be available through tampaspartans.com.
