Spartans Struggle to Find Offense, No Match for Tritons
TAMPA, Fla.-The University of Tampa men's basketball team (15-8, 8-6 SSC) suffered a loss to Eckerd College (15-10, 7-6 SSC) by a score of 76-49 Wednesday night in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.
The Spartans trailed for the majority of the first and even fell behind by double digits late in the half.Tampa went on a mini run thanks to a Da'Markco Foster 3-pointer to cut the deficit to seven at the half.
Foster led the Spartans with 12 points at halftime, including two key 3-point baskets to keep UT within striking distance. Eric Moraes also added eight points and four rebounds at the break.
Tampa failed to stop Eckerd's high potent offense in the second.The Spartans found themselves down by a double digit margin for almost the entire half.Despite UT's efforts the team could not mount a miraculous comeback.
The Tritons were led by guards Josh Snodgrass and Alex Bodney, who scored 24 and 17 points respectively.
Foster led the team finishing with 20 points, shooting an efficient 8-for-14 from the floor. Moraes finished with 12 points for the game.
Tampa will travel to Fort Lauderdale to play against conference foe Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Spartans fell 94-65 to the Sharks earlier this year. However, the Spartans lead the all-time series 15-13.
