Spartans Dominate Sharks
Tha University of Tampa men's basketball team traveled to take on conference foe Nova Southeastern Wednesday night and emerged victorious, as three Spartans tallied-double digit points.
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The University of men's basketball team headed south for a Sunshine State Conference mid-week matchup against the Sharks of Nova Southeastern Wednesday night and emerged victorious by a score of 86-71.
Tampa's was firing on all cylinders as they had three players with double-digit points on the night. Leading the way was freshman phenom Pat Bacon with 24 points, Duke Shelton, who also notched 24 points and rounding out the offensive efforts was Marcel Robinson, who cashed 16 points of his own. UT shot 50 percent from the field and converted nine three-point shots in the contest
Defensively, Tampa lost the battle on the boards but still managed to pull in some timely rebounds as Shelton led the way with ten notching another double-double under his belt during his sophomore campaign. Also collecting rebounds for the Spartans was Robinson with eight and Bacon with five.
Following the victory Tampa improves to 8-14, overall and 4-8 in the SSC.
UT returns to action on Saturday, as they host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center. Tip-off is set for 4 P.M., live stats, as well as a web broadcast will be available for fans to follow all the action from home via TampaSpartans.com.
