Lynn Rallies Past Tampa in Final Home Game of 2015-16

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa's men's basketball team (9-17, 4-11 SSC) took on the Lynn University Fighting Knights (12-13, 6-10 SSC) on Wednesday night. Tampa fell to the Fighting Knights by a final score of 72-55.
In first half action, play was mostly offensive and stayed consistent with Lynn going into halftime with a 34-30 lead over Tampa. The Spartans finished the half shooting 11-of-26, converting on two 3-point field goals. The Knights shot 13-of-34, also converting on three 3-point field goals.
Pat Bacon led Tampa in scoring with eight points and four rebounds. Duke Shelton was big on the boards in the first half, racking in five rebounds.
In the second half of play, Tampa fought a close battle, but Lynn came out on top. The Knights outscored the Spartans 72-55. Tampa finished the game shooting 20-55, cashing in on five 3-point field goals. Lynn finished shooting 29-72, converting on four 3-point field goals. Pat Bacon again led the Spartans in the second half with eight points.
Bacon fueled the Spartans offense with 16 points. Duke Shelton carried Tampa defensively, grabbing 12 rebounds. Matt Johnson played floor general, dishing out a team-leading seven assists.
Tampa will be back in action Saturday in an SSC match-up with the Saint Leo University Lions. In their last match-up, the Spartans rolled over the Lions 86-71. The game is set to tip off at 4 p.m., at the Marion Bowman Center on the Saint Leo University campus.
