Spartans Welcome Mocs for Mid-Week Matchup
The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will welcome conference rival Florida Southern for a Wednesday night matchup.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will host the Florida Southern Mocs on Wednesday starting with the women at 5:30 pm and the men at 7:30 pm.

Last Time Out (Women's): The Spartans traveled to Miami Shores to take on the Barry University Buccaneers on Saturday and came out victorious. The game started with the Spartans and the Bucs going basket-for-basket staying within three points of each other. Heading into the second quarter, the Spartans were only leading by one point. The second quarter sparked the Spartans offense as UT went on a run that would put them up 40-24 heading into half time. After half time the Bucs made an effort at closing in on the Spartans advantage but they were unsuccessful as Tampa went on to win 72-51.
Last Time Out (Men's): The Spartans battled No. 10 Barry Bucs on Saturday in front of a crowd celebrating homecoming. The Spartans were up for the challenge as they stayed with the Bucs, never letting them get too far ahead. After half time the Spartan offense got hot as they led by as many as 10 points with 10 minutes left in the game. The Bucs made a huge effort at closing in on the Spartans lead as they closed the gap and tied the game with just three and half minutes left in the game. But the Spartans stood strong and recorded some momentus baskets that would lead to their 86-76 victory.
About the Spartans (Women's): The Spartans are led offensively by senior de Alfredo who is first in the SSC for points per game with 15.8. She is followed by junior Karma Jeremie and Faith Sanders with 12.9 and 11.2, respectively. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 65.5 points per game and have a 48.2 field goal percentage.
About the Spartans (Men's): UT is led offensively by junior Marcel Robinson, tallying 14.8 points per game. He is followed by junior Duke Shelton and sophomore Pat Bacon, with 13.8 and 13.3 points per game, respectively. Shelton sits in first place in the SSC for rebounds with 10 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 1.3 per game. As a team, the Spartans are second in conference for field goal percentage with 48 percent.
