Spartans Set to Host Knights on Senior Day
The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will host the Lynn University Fighting Knights for their final regular season home game. The seniors will be honored prior to tip off.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's and women's basketball teams will host the Lynn University Fighting Knights on Saturday starting with the women at 2 pm and the men at 4 pm. Prior to the games there will be a small celebration to honor the Spartan Seniors and their contributions to the University of Tampa Athletic program.

Last Time Out (Women's): The Spartans traveled to Melbourne to take on the Florida Tech Panthers for a midweek matchup. The game was a close battle for the first and second quarters as the teams traded baskets consistently. Coming out of halftime, the Spartans and the Panthers continued the close battle from the previous quarters, but the Panthers offense was sparked and they took an 11 point lead heading into the final quarter. The Spartans made a grand effort at coming back as they only trailed by one with two minutes left. But the Panthers held on to win 58-54.
Last Time Out (Men's): The Spartans battled the Panthers after the women's game and it started out much the same way. Both teams were going basket-for-basket, Spartans staying out in the lead. But in the last few minutes of the first half, the Panthers took the lead and carried it throughout the second half. The Panthers went on to win 105-90.
About the Spartans (Women's): The Spartans are led offensively by senior Elena de Alfredo who is second in the SSC for points per game with 15.6. She is followed by junior Karma Jeremie and Faith Sanders with 13.5 and 11.3, respectively. As a team, the Spartans are averaging 65.1 points per game and have a 47.9 field goal percentage.
About the Spartans (Men's): UT is led offensively by junior Marcel Robinson, tallying 14.6 points per game. He is followed by junior Duke Shelton and sophomore Pat Bacon, with 13.1and 12.5 points per game, respectively. Shelton sits in first place in the SSC for rebounds with 10 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 1.2 per game. As a team, the Spartans are tied for second in conference for field goal percentage with 48 percent.
About the Knights (Women's): Paola Vazquez Concepcion leads the Knights with 364 points averaging 15.2 per game. She is followed by Nina Guillaume who is averaging 9.8 points per game.
