Men's Basketball Set to Host Tritons in Battle of the Bay
Conference rival Eckerd College will travel over the bay to take on the Spartans in the Bob Martinez Athletics Center
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the Eckerd College Tritons on Wednesday February 15th. The men will compete at 7:30 pm following the women's matchup at 5:30 pm.

Last Time Out: The Spartans took on a pair of opponents over the weekend at the Tampa Classic Tournament. The first matchup was against University of North Alabama, the Spartans defeated the Lions in their home opener. Junior Pat Bacon led all Spartans with 27 points while senior Duke Shelton committed his first double-double of the season, tallying 11 points and 16 rebounds. Nikola Marijan had his Spartan career debut on home court where he recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, and one assist. In the second matchup of the tournament, the Spartans defeated the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 102-96. Shelton had a record setting night as he recorded a career high 31 points and 16 rebounds, making it his second double-double of the season. As a team, the Spartans shot 88.9 percent from the free throw line. Bacon also had a record night as he tied the school record with 18 free throws made.
About the Spartans: UT is led offensively by junior Bacon, tallying 28.5 points per game. He is followed by senior Shelton with 21 points per game. Shelton sits in first place in the SSC for rebounds with 16 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 2.5 per game. As a team, the Spartans have a 47.7 field goal percentage.
About the Tritons: The Eckerd Tritons are led offensively by Drushaun McLaurn who has 27 points and is averaging 13.5 points per game. As a team, Eckerd is shooting 44.5 percent from the field and collecting 43.5 rebounds per game.

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
