The University of Tampa Men's Basketball team traveled to Winter Park to take on the Rollins College Tars and were defeated 71-69.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Half | Anthony Gamble started the game with a deep three pointer assisted by Pat Bacon. The Tars quickly got on the board after the Spartans and took the lead. After Bacon sunk a three pointer assisted by Mekhi Biffle, neither team scored for just under three minutes. Both teams traded baskets for the entirety of the first quarter, neither team leading by more than three points. Heading into halftime, the Spartans and the Tars were tied 33-33. Alberto Moreno and Gamble led all Spartans with nine points each. 

2nd Half | Rollins was the first team on the board to start the second half, giving them a two point lead. Bacon would gain the lead back after a three pointer assisted by Moreno. The Tars started an offensive run that would put them up by six over the Spartans. After a three pointer from Biffle, and two made free throws from Gamble, the Spartans led by three with just under 13 minutes on the clock. The Tars wasted no time as they regained the lead and maintained it until the Spartans took the lead with seven seconds left in the game. The Tars went on to win after a three point buzzer beater to make the score 71-69. 

INSIDE THE STATS:

  • Gamble led all Spartans with 17 points.
  • Bacon was the second leading point scorer with 16 points. Bacon led all Spartans in assists with nine. 
  • Robinson and Bacon led the defense with five rebounds each.
