Spartans to Host Florida Southern Mocs

The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the FSC Mocs at 7:30 pm, following the women's matchup.

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the Florida Southern Mocs on Wednesday January 17th. The men will compete at 7:30 pm following the women's matchup at 5:30 pm.   

The Matchup: University of Tampa (7-8, 3-6 SSC) vs. Florida Southern College (9-8, 3-6 SSC) 

Date/Time: Wednesday, January 17th at 7:30 pm.

Location: Bob Martinez Athletics Center | Tampa, Fla.

Last Time Out: The Spartans traveled to Melbourne to take on the Florida Tech Panthers and were defeated, 96-74. Marcel Robinson was the leading point scorer with 18 points. Anthony Gamble was the second leading point scorer with 15 points while Mekhi Biffle led the defense with seven rebounds. 

About the Spartans: Bacon leads Tampa offensively, tallying 20.3 points per game. He is followed by senior Marcel Robinson and Duke Shelton with 14.1 and 14.0 points per game, respectively. Shelton sits in first place in the SSC for rebounds with 11.9 per game and in second place for blocked shots with 1.5 per game. As a team, the Spartans have a 46.7 field goal percentage.

About the Mocs: The Mocs are led offensively by Johnathan Lawton who has 340 points and is averaging 20 points per game. He is followed by Brett Hanson who has 285 points and tallies 16.8 points per game. As a team, FSC is shooting 44.3 percent from the field and collecting 41.2 rebounds per game.   

Series History (Men's): The Spartans trail the all-time series record with the Mocs with a 42-68 record.

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
