Spartans Host Saint Leo for Second Meeting

The University of Tampa men's basketball team will welcome the Lions of Saint Leo on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the Saint Leo Lions on Wednesday, January 31st. The men will compete at 7:30 pm following the women's matchup at 5:30 pm.   

The Matchup: University of Tampa (7-12, 3-10 SSC) vs. Saint Leo University (10-14, 6-7 SSC) 

Date/Time: Wednesday, January 31st at 7:30 pm.

Location: Bob Martinez Athletics Center | Tampa, Fla.

Last Time Out: The Spartans hosted the Nova Southeastern Sharks and were defeated, 87-77. Pat Bacon led the Spartans in scoring with 23 points. Duke Shelton led the defense with 10 rebounds, in addition to the 10 points he contributed on offense. Anthony Gamble led the Spartans from behind the arc, with four three-pointers in the game.

About the Spartans: Bacon leads Tampa offensively, tallying 20.5 points per game. He is followed by senior Marcel Robinson and Duke Shelton with 15.1 and 13.7 points per game, respectively. As a team, the Spartans average 79.2 points per game and have a 47 field goal percentage.

About the Lions: The Lions are led offensively by DeAndre King and Junior Searcy who are averaging 12.6 points per game. They are closely followed by Isaiah Hill who tallies 12.1 points per game. As a team, Saint Leo is shooting 42.9 percent from the field and collecting 34.1 rebounds per game.   

Series History (Men's): The Spartans lead the all-time series record with the Lions with a 59-19 record.

Tickets: Tickets for are $5 for adults, senior citizens and coaches. Children under 12 will be admitted free. UT students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
