Spartans Set for Competition with Panthers
The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the Florida Tech Panthers Wednesday following the women's matchup.
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's basketball team will host the Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday, February 7th. The men will compete at 7:30 pm following the women's matchup at 5:30 pm.
The Matchup: University of Tampa (8-13, 4-11 SSC) vs. Florida Tech (10-12, 5-9 SSC)

Last Time Out: The Spartans hosted SSC top seeded team, Rollins College, and came out on top with the score 87-82. Marcel Robinson led offensively scoring 25 points. Duke Shelton led the defense with 12 rebounds, in addition to the 23 points he contributed on offense. Pat Bacon contributed the most assists with nine. As a team, the Spartans shot 53.6 percent from the field and collected 30 rebounds and 22 assists. After the performance on Saturday, Shelton joins the record books as he tabbed his 1,000th career point.
About the Spartans: Bacon leads Tampa offensively, tallying 19.9 points per game. He is followed by senior Marcel Robinson and Duke Shelton with 15.5 and 14.5 points per game, respectively. As a team, the Spartans average 78.3 points per game and have a 46.5 field goal percentage.
About the Panthers: The Panthers are led offensively by Sam Daniel who leads the team will 530 points averaging 24.1 per game. Jordan Majors is the second leading point scorer for the Panthers with 21.8 points per game. As a team, Florida Tech is shooting 48.6 percent from the field and collecting 33.4 rebounds per game.
