Weekly Preview: Spartans Look to Rebound After two Costly losses

Tampa loses two costly SSC games.

SSC Teams with National Rankings: #2 Nova Southeastern

Tampa Spartan's Men's Basketball: (7-13, 6-8 SSC), 8th in the SSC

Tampa

  • The Spartans have been struggling, losing seven of their last nine games, averaging only 68 points per game in those losses. They lost by fifteen to Rollins on Wednesday and by two to Palm Beach Atlantic in OT on Saturday. Tampa has fallen back to the eighth seed and are barely hanging on to the final seed to be eligible for the SSC tournament. They have a 7-13 record and matchup against top teams in the SSC this week in Saint Leo and Florida Southern.

Saint Leo

  • The Lions have played good basketball, winning four of their last five games. They sit 4th in the SSC and are surging at the right time with a 17-8 record. The Lions can make a huge statement this upcoming week as they take on the Spartans on Wednesday and can knock down SSC juggernaut #2 Nova Southeastern.

Florida Southern

  • The Mocs have been very streaky this season; however, they were on the winning side this past week. In Eckerd and Lynn, they beat two bottom-tier teams in the SSC this past week. Thanks to their great start this season, they sit tied for 2nd in the SSC with Florida Tech and have a record of 15-7. Florida Southern will look to continue their winning streak as they take on Rollins Wednesday and Tampa on Saturday.
