Top-Ranked Sharks Avenge Loss in Win Over Tampa
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The No. 1 ranked and defending national champion Nova Southeastern Sharks defeated the Tampa Spartans with a final score of 107-59.
From the very start, it was evident that Nova Southeastern had the upper hand. They established a comfortable lead early on, outscoring Tampa 48-31 in the first half. The Sharks' offensive prowess was on full display as they shot an impressive 46.0% from the field. Their three-point shooting was particularly strong, with 13 successful attempts out of 33, resulting in a 39.4% accuracy rate.
The Spartans shot 28.3% from the field and 18.5% from beyond the arc.
Nova Southeastern's balanced attack was instrumental in their victory. Six players reached double-digit scoring figures, with Ryan Walsh leading the way with 18 points. He was followed closely by Alex Mangold and Shane Hunter, who contributed 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Sharks' strong rebounding game also played a significant role in their success, as they outrebounded Tampa 52-44.
Tampa's Bryan Williams was a bright spot for the Spartans, scoring a team-high 18 points.
The victory improves Nova Southeastern's record to an impressive 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the Sunshine Conference. They continue to assert their dominance in the conference and solidify their position as one of the top teams in the region. Tampa drops to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
