Spartans Open 2014-15 Season at Saint Leo Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's golf team opened its 2014-15 season with a 16th-place finish at the Saint Leo Invitational, which was a rain-shortened two-round event at Lake Jovita Golf Club.
The Spartans shot rounds of 293 and 310 to finish at 603 (+27). USC-Aiken claimed the team title with a 562 (-14) as a pair of Sunshine State Conference opponents Lynn (566) and Barry (568) finished second and fourth respectively.
Zach Schuster led the Spartans with a 148, as the junior finished 54th overall. Jason Steele carded a 150, including a team-best score of 70 in Monday's round.
Also golfing for Tampa were Patrick Fereday (152), Chris Clarke (153), Danny Syring (153), Grant Heelan (159) and Steve Embree (161).
The Spartans return to action on Oct. 27-28 at the Rollins Invitational. The event will be played at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando.
