Sixth-Place Finish for UT at University Golf Classic
MUSSEL SHOALS, Ala. - The University of Tampa men's golf team was sixth at the University Golf Classic, which was hosted by regional opponent University of North Alabama. The three-round event was played at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course.
Tampa finished with a three-round score of 927 following rounds of 323, 305 and 299. Lee University and the University of Missouri-St. Louis finished regulation with identical scores of 873 as Lee would go on to win the tie break.
Jason Steele was UT's top performer, carding a score of 223 (+7) to finish 10th overall. Zach Schuster shot a 225 and registered the top overall round for the Spartans with a 69 in the second round on Monday.
Danny Syring (239), Steve Embree (242) and Gray Barnes (250) also competed in Tampa's lineup, while Justin Elwell (245) participated as an individual.
Tampa will travel to Miami for the Barry Invitational on April 12-14. The event will be hosted by Sunshine State Conference foe Barry University and played at Normandy Shores Country Club.
