Spartans Suffer Conference Loss to Florida Tech Panthers
The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team suffered its first conference loss of the season to the Florida Tech Panthers.
TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 5 University of Tampa Spartans fall to the Florida Tech Panthers by a final score of 7-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
1st Period
- The Panthers scored the first and only goal of the first period with 6:50 left on the clock.
2nd Period
- With 6:34 left in the half, the Spartans scored their first goal of the game with a goal from Luke Robideaux. This goal marked Robideaux's first of the season.
- However, 30 seconds later, the Panthers answered nettting a goal of their own.
- Heading into halftime, Florida Tech lead UT 2-1.
3rd Period
- Coming out of the half, once again, it was the Florida Tech Panthers who scored first.
- Then with 11:28 left in the period, Matt Vetter netted a goal for Tampa.
- Tech was quick to respond with a goal giving the Panthers the 4-2 lead.
- The Panthers scored again with 7:54 left in the third.
- Luke Poner then scored his first goal of the season, narrowing Tech's lead 5-3.
- With 4:52 left in the period, Chris Cox netted a goal for the Spartans, the assist by Bryan Wright.
- Florida Tech then scored again, giving them the 6-4 lead.
- The last goal of the period was scored by UT's Andrew Kew, his 22nd of the season.
- At the end of the third, the Panthers continued to hold the lead over the Spartans 6-5.
4th Period
- No goals were scored in the fourth period until the final two minutes of play.
- The Panthers scored their final goal of the game with 1:38 left in the contest.
- Tampa scored the final goal of the game. The goal scored by Kansai Garey.
- The Florida Tech Panthers took down the No. 5 University of Tampa Spartans by a final score of 7-6.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Both Luke Robideaux and Luke Posner scored their first goals of the season.
- Robideaux also led the team in caused turnovers with two.
- Posner and Bryan Wright led the team in ground balls, each with four.
- Ross Dickerson won 10 of the 16 faceoffs he took.
- B.J. Borowski recoreded 11 saves for the Spartans.
BEYOND THE BOX:
- This is the first ever SSC loss for the Spartans, and it ended the teams 20 game SSC regular season win streak.
