EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Tampa men's lacrosse team will compete for the Division II National Championship on Sunday, May 29 at 4:00pm in East Hartford, Connecticut.
The Matchup: No. 1 University of Tampa (20-0) vs. No. 1 Mercy University (16-1)

Series History: This will be the first ever matchup between the two sides, as both teams are appearing in their first ever NCAA Championship. As they look for their first National Title in program history.
About the Spartans: Tampa enters this game with a staggering record of 20-0. The Spartans propelled to the National Championship with a dominant 19-8 win over Limestone University on Sunday. Tampa looks to bring home a National Championship for the first time in program history, with what might possibly be the best team in program history. The Spartans have beaten an astounding 15 ranked opponents throughout the season, thanks to the all around talent that this has to offer. As Senior, Colin White leads the Spartans in points and goals scored on the year, with 72 points and 51 goals on the year, along with him in this stellar attack would be Tampa's leader in assists with 38, Harry Kilkowski. Luke McAnaney will be the final piece of the puzzle of this front three that has been effective all year, coming in with 46 goals and 16 assists for 62 points on the year. The Spartans star defensemen, USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American, Matthew Beddow. Leads the team in caused turnovers with 45 on the year, making him someone nobody wants to go against on the defensive end. Finally with USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American and first in the country in Save Percentage, goalkeeper Blake Ulmer, looks to keep up what this team has done all season, winning. The Spartans look to bring back the prize joy of the National Championship trophy back to Tampa, and put this season in the history books.
About the Mavericks: The Saints come into this matchup with a respectable 16-1 record on the year, defeating the likes of both top 10 ranked teams in Mercyhurst and Adelphi in the regular season. The Mavericks road to the championship included two games decided by just one goal, against Seton Hill and Le Moyne. Senior Brady Kearnen, leads the team in points with 80 on the year, including 38 goals and a team high 42 assists. The Mavericks leading goal scorer, Grad Student Dominic Scorcia has accumulated 51 goals on the year. As both look to lead their team against this dominant Tampa defensive unit.
