CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 2 Tampa Spartans Men's lacrosse team defeated the No. 8 Seton Hill Griffins in a top-10 matchup in a Crown Classic showdown in Charlotte.
How It Happened
- A pair of second quarter goals from Ryan Kemp and a third from Jackson Bashaw would help the Spartans take a 9-3 lead into the half.
- Nine first-half goals from the Spartans would prove to be the difference as scoring was at a premium due to solid defensive performances by both squads in the second half.
- The 9-3 first half for the Spartans proved to be pivotal as Tampa was outscored in the second half 5-4 but managed to hold off the Griffins comeback efforts.
- A trio of attackers recorded hat tricks for the Spartans; Kemp, Bashaw, and Davis Lindsey all tallied three goals, while the latter also added three assists.
- Tampa would lose the faceoff battle for the first time this season as Seton Hill won 15 of 25 faceoffs between the pair of schools.
- Conley Stone would add five groundballs on the day while adding one caused turnover.
- Connor Theriault had a big day in the net as he tallied 16 saves to preserve the Spartans lead.
