NEW LONDON, Conn. - University of Tampa men's soccer player Ryan Maxwell has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as a member of the 2008 NSCAA/adidas Senior College Men's Scholar All-America Soccer Team.
The senior midfielder from Clarendon, Jamaica, carries a 3.35 overall GPA while majoring in Accounting. He also excelled on the field for the Spartans, ranking second on the team in assists (5), points (25) and game-winning goals (3). He was also third on the team with 10 goals.
"This is a very proud day for UT men's soccer and I am happy for Ryan Maxwell and his family back home in Jamaica," says head coach Adrian Bush. "Not only has this young man finished his career with a strong performance on the field, he has been an example in the classroom on what a true student-athlete represents in collegiate sports."
In recognition of the honor, Maxwell has been invited to join fellow Scholar All-Americas from the high school and college ranks to be honored during the NSCAA All-America Luncheon at the America's Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, MO. The luncheon will be held as part of the 62nd Annual NSCAA Convention on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 12:00 noon.
