TAMPA, Fla. - Freshman Dominic Goncalves broke a 1-1 tie with 30 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the top-ranked University of Tampa men's soccer team (4-0) over the Savannah College of Art and Design Bees (3-1-1) by a final score of 3-1.
Senior Lister Warren opened up the scoring nine minutes into the contest off a free kick from UT's Dan Ingvarsson. It was Warren's third goal of the season and Ingvarsson's fifth assist.
The Bees pulled the game even at the 56:17 mark when Josiah Miller put Ellert Hreinsson's rebound past a diving Ryan Thompson. Thompson finished the contest with three saves, holding SCAD scoreless for the remainder of the game.
With regulation nearing a close, Goncalves took a shot from just inside the box to notch his first goal as a Spartan with 30 seconds to go. With eight seconds left on the clock, sophomore Ryan Griffin headed a ball to National Player of the Year candidate Pascal Milien who added an insurance goal for Tampa to close out the scoring at 3-1.
The Spartans return to action next Friday when they head to Pensacola to take on No. 15 West Florida at 7 p.m.
