No. 22 Tampa Drops SSC Opener to No. 12 Lynn

The No. 21 University of Tampa (5-2-1, 0-1 SSC) men's soccer team fell to No. 12 Lynn University (6-1, 1-0 SSC) by a score of 1-0 to open Sunshine State Conference play.
"Lynn outplayed us from start to finish toinight," says head coach Adrian Bush. "Take nothing away from them, they are a quality team. I feel the demands of college soccer caught up with us tonight as it was our fourth game in eight days. It showed on the field and Lynn was a better side on the day."
Both teams were held scoreless in the first half as UT goalkeeper Zak Downes tallied 10 saves.
Lynn opened the scoring in the 58th minute with Chris Hellmann netting the goal. Javier Mochon and Jason Sangha were each credited with an assist.
The Spartans got on the board in the 83rd minute on a shot from inside the box from Andrew Clare to even the match at 1-1.
A minute later the Fighting Knights responded to take a 2-1 lead off the foot of Simon Gubisch as Hellmann notched the assist on the game-winner.
The UT offense was unable to put an equalizer past LU goalie Max Schmidt in the final minutes of play.

"I'm really proud of the effort we gave tonight and the boys showed great character to get back in it and tie it at 1 with 6 minutes to go," states Bush. "That type of character is what we need to get to the NCAA tournament."
