Tampa Set To Host Embry-Riddle In Weekend Contest
TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Spartans men's soccer team welcomes in the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Saturday night for a weekend regional match-up.
UT enters the contest with a record of 5-4-0, (2-1). Last time out the Spartans dropped a heartbreaking match to Florida Southern thanks to a goal of a corner by Carl Spansk at the 39' minute mark. ER comes in sporting a record of (1-4) coming off back to back losses to Nova Southeastern and Eckerd.
Leading the way offensively for Tampa is Keith Francisco with four goals and eight points. Other key contributors include Troy Tucker and Fredinho Mompremier with two goals apiece, and Jason Collister, who has recorded a goal and an assist.
Defensively Christian Knight leads the defensive unit the netminder has collected 34 saves on the year. Knight has also posted a .739 save % and a 1.31 goals against average that ranks fifth in the SSC, Tampa also leads the conference in fouls per game with a 10.33 tally.
The back line for UT is manned by sophomore Bryan Tissot and freshman Ramzi Toure. Who as a defensive unit have only given up 12 goals on the season, this is a direct product of their aggressive, uptempo playstyle.
