UT Ranked 4th in SSC Preseason Poll

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced the 2016 Men's Soccer Pre-Season Poll as voted on by the coaches. The University of Tampa men's soccer team has been voted to finish the season fourth in the conference. Saint Leo University has been selected to win the conference, receiving 60 total votes and four first-place votes in the poll.
 
Saint Leo won the 2015 SSC regular season with a 5-2-1 record. The Lions were also crowned regular season champions in 2005 and 2013.  Lynn University and Rollins College finished tied for second in the poll with 53 total votes apiece.

The Spartans finished the 2015 season with a 9-7 overall record and 5-3 in conference play. The season for UT came to an end after falling to Rollins College in the SSC Tournament Semifinal in Saint Leo, Fla by a 3-2 final score.

Rollins (17th) and Lynn (25th) start the season with rankings in the NSCAA preseason coaches' poll. Saint Leo is receiving votes in that poll.
 
The 2016 Sunshine State Conference men's soccer season opens up Thursday, September 1st and conference play begins on Wednesday, September 14th. Tampa will open at home against the University of West Florida Argonauts at 7 p.m. on September 1st and open conference play against Nova Southeastern University on Saturday September 17th on the road at 7 p.m.
