Sharks Visit Spartans on Tuesday Night
This game was rescheduled due to Hurricane Irma earlier in the year
TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team will host the Nova Southeastern University Sharks in a rare Tuesday night clash. The Spartans are coming off a 1-1 week as they overcame the Embry Riddle Eagles last Wednesday 3-0 at home before drawing with No.9 Lynn University 2-2 in overtime on the road. The Sharks are also coming off a 1-1 week as the bounced back from a 4-0 loss to No.8 Palm Beach Atlantic by beating Saint Leo 2-1.
The Matchup: Tampa (4-3-2, 3-2-2 SSC) vs. Nova Southeastern (4-6, 2-4 SSC)
Date/Time: Tuesday, October 17 at 6 p.m.
Location: Pepin Stadium | Tampa, Fla.
Last Time Out: Tampa traveled to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on the #9 ranked Lynn University Fighting Knights. UT took the lead in the 5th minute of play as Juancho Fernandez combined in a give and go in the box with Monty Berrow to give their team the lead. After Lynn scored two goals in the second half, the Spartans fought back and stayed in the game, keeping it a one-goal game until late. In the 87th minute, Knut Soeren Hovet scored the tying goal off an assist from Marcel Salokat. Neither side found the game-winner in the extra periods as the match ended in a tie.
About the Spartans: The Tampa offense is led by Bay Downing with three goals as well as Juancho Fernandez who has two goals and two assists. Lewis Sugden has tallied four assists and one goal for the Spartans along with Monty Berrow and Felipe DeSousa who each have two goals and one assist. At goalkeeper, Jake Richards has started and played in seven games recording 25 saves with 2 shutouts this season.
About the Sharks: Noel Johnson and Darwin Lom lead the attack for the Sharks with a combined seven goals and one assist. Ignacio Goya, Juanes Devia, and Bestun Mohammed each have a goal for Nova Southeastern and together have five assists. Nico Rosiglioni has been in goal for the Sharks for six games this season seeing 540 minutes of action with 21 saves. Also at goalkeeper, Jack Howard has recorded 25 saves in 360 minutes of action letting up nine goals.
Series History: Tampa leads the all-time series against Nova 17-5-4.
