This is the first time DeSousa has earned the award and second Spartan this season
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Felipe DeSousa has been chosen as the men's soccer offensive player of the week as announced earlier today by the conference office. DeSousa scored three times for the Spartans, including the two game-winning goals as UT went 2-0 last week with a 3-0 win over Nova Southeastern and a 3-2 win over Florida Tech on Senior Night.
Against the Sharks, DeSousa scored the first goal late in the first half to get the offense going as Tampa took a late 2-0 lead into halftime. On Saturday, he scored the opening goal in the 8th minute against Florida Tech and scored the game winner in the 88th minute to help UT improve to 5-2-2 in SSC play and remain a perfect 5-0 at home.
The team returns to action this Wednesday as they travel to St. Leo, Fla. to take on the Saint Leo Lions in an SSC match. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
