Spartans Earn No.3 Seed in NCAA Tournament
The team is coming off their third SSC Tournament Championship after a 2-1 win over Rollins
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee announced today the field of 38 teams for the 2017 Division II Men's Soccer Championship.
Two to six teams were selected from each of the eight regions. Teams from the same region will be paired for first- and/or second-round competition, which will be conducted November 9-12 on campus sites. Third-round/quarterfinals will be held on campus sites and completed by November 19. The semifinals will be played on November 30th and the Championship game will take place on December 2nd. Both semifinals and the final will be held at Swope Park in Kansas City, Missouri, hosted by Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and Kansas City Sports Commission. In the 2016 championship, Wingate lifted the trophy for the first time in the program's history after defeating Charleston (W.Va.) 2-0 to finish the season at 19-1-0.
The University of Tampa men's soccer team earned the No. 3 seed in the South Region. The Spartans will host the No.2 seed University of West Alabama Tigers who won in penalties over the University of Alabama Huntsville to take home the Gulf South Conference Tournament
In the other south region match, No. 1 seed Palm Beach Atlantic will host No.4 seed Lynn.
