Spartans Ranked in USCA Top 25
The team will head into the postseason after winning the SSC Tournament on Sunday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Tampa climbed into the top-25 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II National Poll, coming in at No. 20 in the final regular season rankings. The Spartans concluded the regular season with a pair of back to back wins on the road in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament to clinch the title. They defeated Lynn in penalty kicks (4-2) in the semifinals before defeating Rollins 2-1 in the Championship game.
A total of three teams from the Sunshine State Conference are represented in the newest rankings. Joining the defending NCAA South Region Champions in the poll are No. 5 Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 24 Lynn. Rollins is also listed as receiving votes.
Tampa, which has captured three national championships in program history, was named as the 3rd seed in the South Region for the NCAA Tournament that will begin later this week. The Spartans will host the No.2 seed West Alabama on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.
