DeSousa Named to USCA All-South Region First Team
Felipe DeSousa was key in helping Tampa reach the NCAA Tournament for the program's 25th occasion
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As announced by the United Soccer Coaches Association, Felipe DeSousa was named to the All-South Region First Team. DeSousa was a key player in helping to guide the Spartans to a 9-4-3 overall record and 6-2-2 in Sunshine State Conference play. The team finished second in the SSC standings behind Palm Beach Atlantic. After entering the conference tournament as the second seed, the team went on to clinch the programs third trophy in the tournament after defeating Rollins 2-1 in the championship game.
Tampa would advance to the NCAA Tournament for the 25th time in school history where they fell in the 2nd round to West Alabama.
In his only season as a Spartan, DeSousa led the team with 9 goals in 13 games and also added one assist. The first-team all-SSC performer was also named the SSC Offensive Player of the Year. The Florida Gulf Coast University transfer also notched four game-winning goals in his senior season, coming against No. 17 Rollins, Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech and Shorter.
