Tampa Falls to West Florida to Begin the Season

TAMPA, FLA. – The University of Tampa men's soccer team falls to the Argonauts at home to begin the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

FIRST HALF: The game began with West Florida putting pressure on early, recording a shot on goal that went wide. Tampa began to push back, recording a shot on goal of their own in the 11^th minute. Goalkeeper Steele Arlasky made an outstanding save in the 23^rd minute to keep the matchup knotted at zero. Midfielder Theo Maye opened the scoring, capitalizing off a penalty kick to give the Spartans in a 1-0 lead. Tampa would finish out the half strong, heading into halftime with the lead.

Score: 1-0 Tampa

SECOND HALF: The second half opened up with the teams continuing to battle for possession. The Argonauts tied the matchup at one goal a-piece in the fourth minute of the half. West Florida would net two more goals by the 18^th minute, bringing the intensity of the match up a few levels. Overall, the Argonauts push in the half would prove too much to come back from.

Final: 3-1 West Florida
