Tampa Swimmers Defeat Principia
TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa men's and women's swimming teams cruised to easy victories over Principia, winning 127-92 in the female race and 127-72 in the men's event. The Spartans took a total of 17 races in the event.
Tampa got off to a good start, winning the women's 200 Medley Relay as the team of Allison Vetter, Mariesa Hardin, Susanna Ashley and Diana Mielke took the race with a time of 1:54.55. Jessie Bardin was victorious in the 200 Free (1:57.73), the 50 Free (25.20) and the 1,000 Free (11:06.12). Other Spartans winning were Katie Shald (100 Back), Julie Gauvin (100 Breast), Susanna Ashley (200 Fly), Madison Flake (100 Free).
UT took the men's 200 Medley Relay as well as Greg Cerrato, Charlie Berge, Daniel Fernandez and Dewey Destin posted a time of 1:41.56. Kyle Merritt won the 100 Back with a time of 53.48. Other UT swimmers winning were Blaine Bess (200 Free and 200 Fly), Charlie Berge (100 Breast), Kyle Treen (50 Free), Tyler Furrer (500 Free and 1,000 Free), Greg Cerrato (100 Free).
