Spartans Split With Indian River
Tampa, Fla. - The University of Tampa faced off with Indian River CC in a battle of perennial powerhouse swimming teams, with each team winning one of the dual meets. Tampa was victorious in women's action, winning 148-112, while Indian River's men won 146-116.
In women's action, Tampa's Jessie Bardin led the way with three first-place finished. The freshman was victorious in the 100 Free (53.51), 200 Free (1:56.19) and the 500 Free (5:15.28). UT's women had nine first-place finishes as other Spartans finishing first were Mariesa Hardin (100 Breast), Susanna Ashley (200 Fly), Alexandra Colley (200 IM), Jennifer Jenkins (200 Back), Julie Gauvin (200 Breast) and Annie Emery (100 Fly).
Kyle Merritt paced Tampa's men, receiving two of the team's four first-place finishes. The junior won the 100 Back (55.00) and 200 Back (1:59.01) events. Roman Dagash (200 Fly) and Tyler Furrer (500 Free) also turned in top place finishes for the Spartan men.
